Etta Belle Ziglar

Etta Belle  Ziglar Boles DOB 4/3/1890  DOD April 19, 1962. She was the daughter of William Henry Ziglar and Sarah Ellen Wolffe. She had 10 boys, 2 girls and 1 stillborn. She worked very hard, but loved her family and her church.  I remember sometimes grandpa would invite people to come to visit for an oyster stew, not giving grandma much warning. We all scrambled to help. The stew was cooked in a large wash tub that grandma kept special just for stews. She served it with the cows milk and home made butter. I can taste it now! Grandpa worked hard to feed his family, but grandma worked hard just to get it on the table, and a big table it was.  After John Francis died and the children were all out of the house, she was able to travel with her church groups and see places she had dreamed of for years. She was a wonderful loving lady.

Johann Leonhart Ziegler (1711-1757) immigrated from Sinsheim, Germany, in 1732 and settled in the Germanna colony in Culpeper Co. Virginia, where he married Barbara Zimmerman, daughter of Christopher Zimmerman. The following children are named in his will:
Christopher Ziegler m. Elizabeth ?
Leonard Ziegler (d. 1772) m. Ann ?
Elizabeth Ziegler
Ann Ziegler
Susanna Ziegler m. Joshua Tillery

Barbara Zimmerman had a half-brother, John, who married Ursula Blankenbaker. John and Ursula's oldest son John married three times and had 13 children. Reuben, Susanna and Nancy Zimmerman mentioned in the next generation are probably all children of John Jr., but there is some uncertainty as to which of John's three wives were their mothers.
